mission and goals

Gateway of The Rock

Mission Statement from Isaiah 61:1

Preach good news to the poor

Coffee, Tea, and Conversation always free to the wanderer.

Art’s radio show, teaching truth

A source of income (90% of sales) for the “poor” Christian artists whose work we sell.

Used Christian books at low prices, Bibles always available for free.

Minster to the broken hearted, captives, and prisoners

A place of welcome and comfort for the felons and families of felons, A place of restoration for broken people and the people who love them.

The display of the LORD’s splendor (verse 3)

By displaying the Art and Music of the Land to the Glory of

God. That back ground music praises the LORD. That the paintings and photographs show God’s splendor.

Praise and Gladdness

Joyful worship for all who want to “do church” with us on Sundays. Praise on Saturday Nights through the weekly

“sing-spirations”

Foreigners will work your fields and vineyards. (verse 5)

Tourists will be the major financial support for the ministry.

Mission teams will do a lot of the yard work.

Smart Goals: Specific, Measurable, Aligned to MissionStatement, Result focused, Time frame set.

“to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor”

Goals will be achieved within a years’ time, by June 1, 2007.

“my people will receive a double portion”

This will be the “measurable” outcome.

Goal One: start up money, pledges, income

Gateway of the Rock is not to be a money making project,

however it should be self supporting within one year.

to begin we need at least $20,000 and pledges of $1,800

a month. We might be able to get a loan from OPEN BIBLE,

at 3% but we rather not. We may also request a grant of

$500 a month “restart” funds for 6 months.

by June 1, 2007 we will be operating in the black – have a

monthly donation base of at least $3000. With income from

“product” and donations we should be able to pay Pastor Art

a salary (beginning June 1, 2007) of $10,000 a year.

*note, without $20,000 start up and promise of the “free” construction of a new bathroom, we will not proceed.

Goal Two: Outreach

We will use Art’s radio show ($300 a month) as a draw to

the ministry, we will advertise at the Movie Theater. We’ll

send out monthly news letters and personally contact area

churches to participate in our Sing-spirations. We will post

flyers around town. We will record the number of “customers” each month (have them sign a guest book)and see an increase (double) total customers each month. Using a start up number of 1, by June 1, 2007 we will have at least 2848 regular visits per month.

“Church” attendance will grow from an expected 16 to 32.

Goal Three: The Grounds

Gateway of the Rock will be an attractive and inviting establishment. By June 1, 2007 there will be trees and flowers growing on the grounds, as per Isaiah 61:11. Some of the activities will take place outside.

Any comments, thoughts, suggestions? We plan on having a “vision casting” get together on or about May 20th. By Memorial Day weekend, we should know if we have enough prayer and financial support to proceed.

We’ll keep you posted.

just a note, incase anyone is reading some of these older posts...we never did have that vision casting get together. we've been seeking team members, but not agressively. didn't want to seem like we were trying to "sell" them something. we are still trusting that if this is the will of the LORD, He will rise up people who are ready, willing, and able to work the work with us.
